Andrographolide is a diterpene lactone extracted from Andrographis paniculata, a plant in the family andrographaceae. It is one of the main effective components of Andrographis paniculata. Its appearance is white square prism or flake crystal, odorless and bitter. Andrographolide is dissolved in boiling ethanol, slightly in methanol or ethanol, very slightly in chloroform, and almost insoluble in water or ether. It has the effects of removing heat, detoxification, anti-inflammatory and analgesic. It has special effects on bacterial and viral upper respiratory tract infection and dysentery. It is known as a natural antibiotic drug.
