Lidocaine is a local anesthetic and antiarrhythmic drug, a derivative of cocaine, but without the hallucinogenic and addictive components of cocaine. Lidoca is a white crystalline powder because of its hydrochloride, which is very slightly soluble in water. Its toxicity is comparable to that of procaine, but its local anesthetic effect is strong and durable, and it has good surface penetration. It can be injected or used as Topical anesthesia. Lidocaine is a very good local anesthetic, generally taking effect one to three minutes after application and lasting one to three hours. Used to treat mouth ulcers. It’s not used very often as a heart rhythm drug, due to concerns about its long-term side effects. A small number of people are allergic to lidocaine. In 1963, it was used to treat arrhythmia. It is a drug for the prevention and treatment of acute myocardial infarction and various heart diseases complicated by rapid ventricular arrhythmia.
Application&Function
It is suitable for acute ventricular arrhythmia caused by acute myocardial infarction, surgery, digitalis poisoning and cardiac catheterization, including premature ventricular contractions, ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation. Secondly, it is also used for status epilepticus with other anticonvulsants ineffective and local or spinal anesthesia. It can also relieve tinnitus.
